    • Hi Anita

I’m sure you will love Clay Station-we are a very friendly and supportive group and new members are always welcome. If you would like to visit and have a chat you are very welcome to do so.

We offer one off taster sessions, courses, or membership to The Clay Station.

If you have experience of ceramics you can apply to become a member and come along to the studio when it suits you-Our opening times at the moment are Tuesdays 4-8pm and Fridays 11am-3pm and some Saturdays times vary.As a new member you would have an induction session to introduce you to the studio and how Clay Station operates. We will go through the basics with you, maybe a useful reminder of techniques, and show you where everything is in the studio. Membership fees and details can be found on the website.
A one off taster session costs £10. It will give you a feel of the studio and a chance to come along and do some work for a few hours! We will of course be on hand to help and get you started!
You are very welcome to come and visit us to have a look at our wonderful studio and have a chat during any of the sessions.

We do run courses but we are fully booked until next year (not so far away now!!!) The courses will be advertised on the website and on our Facebook page

As you may have seen on the website we are a HEY CLAY! venue and are taking bookings for free sessions 4th -6th December. This is a good opportunity to check us out for free!!!!
Please let me know if you would like to come along. We have 4 wheels and are already getting fairly booked up. If you would like me to reserve a time I will reserve a wheel for you-Sunday is pretty full so Friday or Saturday would be better. Please let me know as soon as possible.
We look forward to seeing you at the Clay Station.

      Kind regards

    • Hi Anita

All the courses coming up for early next year are now on the website along with the prices.

If you would like to come along before that The Clay Station is a HEY CLAY! venue-we have teamed up with the Crafts Council and BBC Get Creative project which is running alongside the BBC2 programme The Great Pottery Throw Down (Tuesdays at 9pm)
On 4th-6th of December The Clay Station will be open for people to come along and have a go for free. No need to book unless you want to have a go on the wheels. We have a few spaces left but they are going fast. If you would like to book a wheel let us know and we can reserve one for you.
We can also show you around the studio and give you more information about courses and The Clay Station.
Hope to see you soon at The Clay Station

      Kind regards

  1. Hi I am interested in doing one of the workshops if you could give me some details on what when and how much these are please. It’s a very long time since I have used a wheel but I have done ceramics for a great many years and have a kiln and moulds etc. Although I have not done any for the past 15 years due to illness. Many thanks Paula

  2. I see that your beginners course starting in February is now fully booked. Could you please tell me when the next one is running?

    • Dear Beth-There are spaces on the sculpture head course which is a really good course run by a great tutor. It will not cover throwing on the wheel but is suitable for beginners and will be looking at hand building methods mainly coiling with the aim of creating a large piece. The tutor, Michelle’ work can be seen on the website and she is very good at guiding people to create similar pieces step by step. Let me know if this is of interest.
We will be putting another program of courses together shortly which will be advertised on the website and our fb page.
You are very welcome to visit the studio and have a look around and we also offer taster sessions every week which may also be of interest. Drop us an email at to book.
      Hope to see you soon.
      Kind regards

  3. Please could you add me to an email list about courses – I would like to come and do a beginners throwing and turning course this summer. Please let me know dates. Thank you.

    • Dear Cheryl

      Thanks for contacting us.

There will be new courses advertised on the website and on our Facebook page very soon.

All courses offered at the moment are fully booked but new dates will be advertised soon. We run both throwing and general courses-for throwing I tend to organise for a three day course-day 1 we throw, day 2 we turn (finishing off the pots especially the bottoms) and day 3 about a week later we glaze. This seems to work well and you can expect to make about 6 pots-its all about doing and practice so you will be free to make as many as you like. They are usually at weekends so hope that is convenient for you.
If you would like to visit the studio please let me know-it would be a pleasure to show you around.
      Hope to see you soon

      Kind regards

  4. Hi Ginny,

    • Hi Cheryl

  5. Hi

Please could I book in for the head sculpture course from January please.

Ginny, apologies that I didn’t make the tile making. I can’t find your email but hope you get this. I will be there on 17 September to help at gallery.

    Kind regards
    Ali Rowsell

    • Dear Cheryl. Im afraid that course is now full. Are you able to make the 13th/14th for the throwing and turning and one day/evening week beginning September 5th. We are having to change the glazing day as it is the Victorious Festival which many people already have tickets for. Let me know if you can join us. Kind regards Ginny

      • Hi Ginny, oh shame – but yes pls to reserve the 13th 14th. Just need to check the dates – will confirm asap. Thank you,

  6. Hello!

My sister-in-law and I would like to try our hands at pottery and using a potters wheel. Neither of us have ever done it before and we would like to give it a shot.

Would you please let me know, whether it is possible and how much it would cost? Also, would we be able to take the work back home?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

    • Dear Surbhi
We run throwing courses from time to time. It is usually 3 days over 2 weekends and the cost is £120 per person which includes 3 sessions lasting 4 hours each, clay, firing and glazing. Day 1 we throw, day 2 we turn (heated the pot) and day 3 we glaze.
Im sure you and your sister in law will love it. Many people come back for 2nd or even 3rd/4th courses!
At the moment we are coming up to a major exhibition at aspex which you are very welcome to come along to. It will be opened by the BBC Great Pottery Throw Down judge Keith Brymer Jones and will be a great event. Due touch a busy time to get everything ready we have no courses planned at the moment but please keep an eye on the website and Facebook page as all courses will be advertised there.
We hope to see you soon at the Clay Station

      Kind regards
